Monday (27th April) was an important day in the Dutch calendar it’s a special occasion where the whole country turns orange!
This was to celebrate the King’s Birthday (or Koningsdag), which is national holiday and everyone generally goes out and about to celebrate – especially in Amsterdam.
The Green Room team in Amsterdam turned orange – not literally – and celebrated the national holiday with a small party at the studio.
There was a great atmosphere in the city with people continuing the long standing tradition of setting up temporary market stalls and selling items they no longer wanted (as the government relaxes trading rules and permits just for the day. Music was played from every corner and everywhere we turned there were street performers or canals full of party boats.
